19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
